(一)、语言知识
1.everyfiveminutes意为“每五分钟”。
“Every+数词+复数名词”表示“每(隔)多少时间或距离,指动作发生的频率”,这里不能用each,对表示频率的词提问用howoften.例如:
Hegoeshomeeverytwoweeks.
---Howoftendoyoupiayfootball?
---Everytwoweeks.
相关链接:在“Every+数词+复数名词”结构中,如果要译为“每隔几个。。。”,在表示时间时,汉语要减一,但在表示距离时,英汉互译数字是一致的。例如:Thereisatreeeverythreemeters.每隔三米有一棵树。
Everyother…表示“每隔一。。。”。例如:Wegotovisitourgrandparentseveryotheryear.我们每隔一年区看望我们的祖父母一次。
2.Unlessyouwanttobuylotsofsouvenirs,wesuggestnottakingalotofmoneywithyou.
Suggest做动词,意为:“建议、提议”,后面跟动词时,用动词-ing形式,变否定时,在动词-ing形式前直接加not.其名词为suggestion“建议”

(二)语法规律总结。
1.although的用法
(1)although是从属连词,“尽管,虽然”,可用在句首或句中,不与but连用,但可与副词yet,still,nevertheless等连用。如:
Althoughmycarisveryold,itstillrunsverywell.
Althoughitwasraining,westillplayedfootball.
(2)多数情况下,although与though同义,可以互换。但although不能与as,even组成短语,“eventhough”即使,asthough好像。如:
Thoughshewasinahurry,shestoppedtotalktome.
Eventhoughitishardwoek,Ienjoyit.
Hesoundsasthoughhehasgotasorethroat.
2.Unless的用法
Unless是从属连词,意思是“如果不。。。,除非。。。”,引导条件状语从句,用一般现在时代替将来时,含有否定意义。可以放句首,也可以放句中。如:
Unlessyoutakemorecare,you’llhaveanaccident.
Don’tpromiseanythingunlessyou’re100percentsure.
Don’tleavethebuildingunlessItoldyouto.
3.sothat的用法
(1)sothat的意思是“以便,为了”,引导的句子通常用来表示目的,sothat放在句子中间,之后的从句通常有can,will,could,may等情态动词。如:

▲though可以用于句末,although则不可以。如:

▲eventhough意为“即使”、“尽管”、“纵然”,与evenif意义相同,也引导让步状语从句。如:

由于unless具有否定意义,因此它引导的是个否定的条件(如果……不)。可以把它看作是if…not的同义表达手段。如:

如果你不努力工作,你会失败的。
注意:unless从句,如同if从句一样,也要用一般现在时代替一般将来时。如:

2.sothat引导的目的状语从句
1)sothat引导目的状语从句,从句中通常带有can,could,may,might,should等情态动词,以适用于目的。如:

他们拼命地干,想在晚饭前就把工作干完。
注意:(1)sothat从句如为否定结构,则谓语动词中多用情态动词。
(2)sothat引导的目的状语从句,可转换成inorderthat引导的目的状语从句。若从句主语与主句主语一致,还可用inorderto(do)或soas(todo)改成同义简单句。如:Theyworkedveryhardsothattheycouldfinishtheworkbeforesupper.
=Theyworkedveryhardinorderthattheycouldfinishtheworkbeforesupper.
=Theyworkedveryhardinordertofinishtheworkbeforesupper.

2)sothat引导的状语从句也可表示结果,这时sothat从句中根据句意可用或不用情态动词。如:

3)句型so…that…表示“如此……以致于……”,so修饰形容词或副词,that引导的从句作状语,表示结果。如:

2)beusedto+名词或动名词表示“习惯于某事或做某事”,这里to为介词,后面的动词须用-ing形式,句子的主语通常是“人”。如:

我实在不习惯这样闷热且潮湿的天气。
4.mean意为“意思是”“有……的意思”“指的是”。如:
‘Whatdoyoumean?’‘Imeannothingelse.’
“你是什么意思?”“我没什么别的意思。”
mean后面可接名词、代词、动词-ing形式或that从句,意为“意味着”“就是”

lie意思是“处于某位置”,如:
