大多数形容词(性质形容词)和副词有比较级和最高级的变化,即原级、比较级和最高级,用来表示事物的等级差别。原级即形容词的原形,比较级和最高级有规则变化和不规则变化两种。

形容词副词最高级的其他用法:
(1)形容词副词最高级前可以有一个表示程度的副词或数词。如:

(2)在作表语的形容词最高级前,如果不和别的相比,常常不加冠词。如:

1.概念:
(1)在确定的过去时间里所发生的动作或存在的状态。一般过去时表示的动作或状态都已成为过去,现已不复存在时间状语有:yesterday,lastweek,anhourago,theotherday,in1982等。
例如:Wheredidyougojustnow?
(2)表示在过去一段时间内,经常性或习惯性的动作。
例如:WhenIwasachild,Ioftenplayedfootballinthestreet.
WhenevertheBrownswentduringtheirvisit,theyweregivenawarmwelcome.
(3)注意:用过去时表示现在,表示委婉语气。
a.动词want,hope,wonder,think,intend等。

动词过去式的规则变化
(1)一般情况下在动词词尾加-ed,词尾-ed在浊辅音和元音后面读[d],在清辅音后面读[t],在[t]和[d]音后面,词尾-ed一律读[id]。例如:
climb→climbed[d]call→called[d]stay→stayed[d]
play→played[d]work→worked[t]help→helped[t]
want→wanted[id]need→needed[id]shout→shouted[id]
(2)词尾是e的动词加-d,读音仍遵照第①条中规则。如:
live→lived[d]love→loved[d]like→liked[t]hope→hoped[t]
(3)以一个元音字母加一个辅音字母结尾的重读闭音节,应双写该辅音字母,再加-ed,词尾-ed的读音仍遵照第①条规则。如:
plan→planned[d]stop→stopped[t]
(4)以辅音字母+y结尾的动词,要先将y改为i再加-ed,词尾-ed一律发[d]。如:

动词过去式的不规则变化:
1把动词原形中的i改为a,变成过去式。如:
begin—began,drink—drank,give—gave,ring—rang,sing—sang,sit—sat,swim—swam
2把重读开音节中的i改为o,变成过去式。如:
drive—drove,ride—rode,write—wrote
3改动词原形中的aw/ow为ew,变成过去式。如:
