There was once a guy who suffered from cancer,a cancer that can’t becured. He was 18 years old and he could die anytime. All his life,he was stuckin his house being taken cared by his mother. He never went outside but he wassick of staying home and wanted to go out for once. So he asked his mother andshe gave him permission.

He walked down his block and found a lot of stores. He passed a CD storeand looked through the front door for a second as he walked. He stopped and wentback to look into the store. He saw a beautiful girl about his age and he knewit was love at first sight. He opened the door and walked in,not looking atanything else but her. He walked closer and closer until he was finally at thefront desk where she sat.

She looked up and asked,“Can I help you?

She smiled and he thought it was the most beautiful smile he has ever seenbefore and wanted to kiss her right there.

He said,“Uh... Yeah... Umm... I would like to buy a CD.

He picked one out and gave her money for it.

“Would you like me to wrap it for you?she asked, smiling her cute smileagain.

He nodded and she went to the back. She came back with the wrapped CD andgave it to him. He took it and walked out of the store.

He went home and from then on,he went to that store every day and bought aCD,and she wrapped it for him. He took the CD home and put it in his closet. Hewas still too shy to ask her out and he really wanted to but he couldn’t. Hismother found out about this and told him to just ask her. So the next day, hetook all his courage and went to the store as usual. He bought a CD like he didevery day and once again she went to the back of the store and came back with itwrapped. He took it and when she wasn’t looking,he left his phone number on thedesk and ran out...

RRRRRING!!!

One day the phone rang, and the mother picked it up and said,“Hello?

It was the girl!!!The mother started to cry and said,“You don’t know?Hepassed away yesterday...

The line was quiet except for the cries of the boy’s mother. Later in theday, the mother went into the boy’s room because she wanted to remember him. Shethought she would start by looking at his clothes. So she opened the closet.

She was face to face with piles and piles and piles of unopened CDs. Shewas surprised to find all these CDs and she picked one up and sat down on thebed and she started to open one. Inside, there was a CD and as she took it outof the wrapper, out fell a piece of paper. The mother picked it up and startedto read it. It said:Hi... I think U R really cute. Do u wanna go out with me?Love,Jocelyn.

The mother was deeply moved and opened another CD...

Again there was a piece of paper. It said:Hi... I think U R really cute.Do u wanna go out with me?Love,Jocelyn.

Love is... when you’ve had a huge fight but then decide to put aside youregos, hold hands and say,“I Love You.

Dear friends:

If you can dream it, you can do it.——Walt Disney

It was a long four years. Even after I had actually graduated, the nightmares began to haunt me, the university would call to say I hadn’t truly graduated. There had been a mistake and there was just one more class I needed to take. I was always so relieved to wake up and realize that it had only been a bad dream. In reality, I had completed every course needed for my degree, and I was a full-fledged college graduate!

Now, the rest of my life loomed ahead of me. Sometimes a bachelor’s degree prepares you for a specific occupation——you train to be an accountant, you graduate and get a position in an accounting firm. Often, however, your stint in college only prepares you to make further decisions regarding your future. You’re pretty sure what you don’t want to do!

During my senior year of college, I had toyed with the idea of changing my major. At that point, I had finally discovered what captured my heart. But, wanting to finally be finishing school was a stronger pull. So, I took a few courses in physiology and exercise science, but not enough to receive a degree in physical therapy. That would require advanced schooling, beyond my bachelor’s degree——and I just wasn’tready to tackle that. Having completed my B.C. degree, I didn’t have any intentions of furthering my education.

So, I did the safe thing and got an office job——the very thing I was sure that I didn’t want to do! I detested the office policies, the suits I had to wear and the downtown environment that I had to drive to every day. I knew this was not where I belonged.

But god knew what path my career was to follow. A position opened up at the most exclusive health club in our city, so I applied. This was my kind of environment——an active, vibrant kind of place——completely at the opposite end of the spectrum from the office environment where I found myself. The position required that I work Saturday nights and Sunday mornings. Perfect, I thought! I could keep my office job Monday through Friday and work at my dream job on the weekends. This arrangement lasted several months until, eventually, a full-time position opened up and I was able to resign from my office job.

Over the next few years, I worked my way up the leader, gaining experience in several different departments. I found my niche as the director of member services——catering to our clientele and providing them with numerous cutting-edge programs. I would have stayed at that job forever——it seemed to be the pinnacle of all my dreams fulfilled. Here were fellow employees who had a passion for the same things that I did——health and fitness. Yet again, god had other plans for my life.Within two years, a newer, bigger, better and more state-of-the-art health club facility was built——just five miles down the road. And, in turn, the owner lost many members to that club. And, in turn, the owner lost thousands of dollars. One by one we were each laid off.

After trying unsuccessfully to land another similar position elsewhere, I knew what I had to do. Go back to school!thanks!

Good morning. Ladies and gentlemen. Life has its ups and downs. I bet everyone here has gone through success and failures, am I right? Therefore, what's your understanding of success and failure? What do you think is the biggest success in one's life? , can you share your idea with us?

Personally, I think success and failure are terms that don't necessarily call for a universal definition since all of us have our own definitions. That is to say, people can be successful in different areas such as in one's job and hobbies, living a successful private life, or running a successful relationship. Assume that there are two men, one is wealthy and the other is needy. The wealthy one loves making money and is always busy with his work. He is satisfied with his business though he hardly has time to have dinner with his wife and children. The needy one loves leisure. He has an easy but low-paid job so that he can have time to spend with his family. In general, he could have delicious and warm dinner with his families every day. He's happy, too. Which one do you think is more successful in his life? In my opinion, they are both successful because they both get what they want.

Everyone will be successful in his or her own area. So, never look down on anyone including yourself. One of my friends is crazy about computer games, thus neglecting his study. All the teachers regarded him as a failure. But actually he is successful in the games. He has won the first prize in many E-sports games.

Another example to support my statement. I think that everyone knows Luo Yufeng who is in America now. Severals years ago, she was under the spotlight and attracted a strong criticism. It seemed that her life was utterly a failure since everyone was laughing at her. But, I think she is successful not because she’s famous but she wanted to immigrant to America and achieved.

In many cases, whether we are successful or not is judged by others, actually, we should judge it by ourselves. As long as you have your own goal, you know exactly what you want, you are successful when you achieve it. So, leave all the negative comments outside the door. Be yourself, follow your own cause and enjoy your own success!

Thank you sincerely!

Hello everybody! My name is Chen Xuanlin. It is my pleasure to be here to share my opinions of growing pains.

Grow up, like a boat in my life, driving the wave surface. Sometimes, be in calm, sometimes be in rough. But the boat I was growing up, not everything is going. For me, sour, sweet, bitter,ho t,everything .

Now, as I grow up, are becoming adults, so in the eyes of parents, I was no longer to be a kid. Sometimes, they say "you've grown up,not a children!" When I listen to this,my head will be pain.

When I was a little boy, my life is so relaxed. But now, in front of the waves are bigger, and more twists and turns the sea,I become a middle school student, that I have all gone past. I'm taller, homework more, study more subjects, have more test. When I was a boy, I am wrong no matter what happened, no one to blame me.But now,if I do something wrong,my parents will shout.

everyone can be a president

人人都能成为总统——美国第43任总统乔治·布什在耶鲁大学的演讲(中英文) to those of you who received honors, awards, and distinctions, i say, well done. and to the c students—i say, you, too, can be president of the united states. 对于那些c等生,我要说,你们将来也可以当美国总统! remarks by the president in commencement address yale university new haven, connecticut listen to the president"s remarks the president: president levin, thank you very much. dean brodhead, fellows of the yale corporation, fellow yale parents, families, and graduates: it"s a special privilege to receive this honorary degree. i was proud 33 years ago to receive my first yale degree. i"m even prouder that in your eyes i"ve earned this one. i congratulate my fellow honorees. i"m pleased to share this honor with such a distinguished group. i"m particularly pleased to be here with my friend, the former of mexico. senor presidente, usted es un verdadero lider, y un gran amigo. (applause.) i congratulate all the parents who are here. it"s a glorious day when your child graduates from college. it"s a great day for you; it"s a great day for your wallet. (laughter.) most important, congratulations to the class of XX. (applause.) to those of you who received honors, awards, and distinctions, i say, well done. and to the c students -- (applause) -- i say, you, too, can be president of the united states. (laughter and applause.) a yale degree is worth a lot, as i often remind dick cheney -- (laughter) -- who studied here, but left a little early. so now we know -- if you graduate from yale, you become president. if you drop out, you get to be vice president. (laughter.) i appreciate so very much the chance to say a few words on this occasion. i know yale has a tradition of having no commencement speaker. i also know that you"ve carved out a single exception. most people think that to speak at yale"s commencement, you have to be president. but over the years, the specifications have become far more demanding. now you have to be a yale graduate, you have to be president, and you have had to have lost the yale vote to ralph nader. ( applause.) this is my first time back here in quite a while. i"m sure that each of you will make your own journey back at least a few times in your life. if you"re like me, you won"t remember everything you did here. (laughter.) that can be a good thing. (laughter.) but there will be some people, and some moments, you will never forget. take, for example, my old classmate, dick brodhead, the accomplished dean of this great university. (applause.) i remember him as a young scholar, a bright lad -- (laughter) -- a hard worker. we both put a lot of time in at the sterling library, in the reading room, where they have those big leather couches. (laughter.) we had a mutual understanding -- dick wouldn"t read aloud, and i wouldn"t snore. (laughter.) our course selections were different, as we followed our own path to academic discovery. dick was an english major, and loved the classics. i loved history, and pursued a diversified course of study. i like to think of it as the academic road less traveled. (laughter.) for example, i took a class that studied japanese haiku. haiku, for the uninitiated, is a 15th century form of poetry, each poem having 17 syllables. haiku is fully understood only by the zen masters. as i recall, one of my academic advisers was worried about my selection of such a specialized course. he said i should focus on english. (laughter.) i still hear that quite often. ( laughter.) but my critics don"t realize i don"t make verbal gaffes. i"m speaking in the perfect forms and rhythms of ancient haiku. (applause.) i did take english here, and i took a class called "the history and practice of american oratory," taught by rollin g. osterweis. (applause.) and, president levin, i want to give credit where credit is due. i want the entire world to know this -- everything i know about the spoken word, i learned right here at yale. (laughter.) as a student, i tried to keep a low profile. it worked. last year the new york times interviewed john morton blum because the record showed i had taken one of his courses. casting his mind"s eye over the parade of young faces down through the years, professor blum said, and i quote, "i don"t have the foggiest recollection of him." (laughter.) but i remember professor blum. and i still recall his dedication and high standards of learning. in my time there were many great professors at yale. and there still are. they"re the ones who keep yale going after the commencements, after we have all gone our separate ways. i"m not sure i remembered to thank them the last time i was here, but now that i have a second chance, i thank the professors of yale university. (applause.) that"s how i"ve come to feel about the yale experience -- grateful. i studied hard, i played hard, and i made a lot of lifelong friends. what stays with you from college is the part of your education you hardly ever notice at the time. it"s the expectations and examples around you, the ideals you believe in, and the friends you make. in my time, they spoke of the "yale man." i was really never sure what that was. but i do think that i"m a better man because of yale. all universities, at their best, teach that degrees and honors are far from the full measure of life. nor is that measure taken in wealth or in titles. what matters most are the standards you live by, the consideration you show others, and the way you use the gifts you are given. now you leave yale behind, carrying the written proof of your success here, at a college older than america. when i left here, i didn"t have much in the way of a life plan. i knew some people who thought they did. but it turned out that we were all in for ups and downs, most of them unexpected. life takes its own turns, makes its own demands, writes its own story. and along the way, we start to realize we are not the author. we begin to understand that life is ours to live, but not to waste, and that the greatest rewards are found in the commitments we make with our whole hearts -- to the people we love and to the causes that earn our sacrifice. i hope that each of you will know these rewards. i hope you will find them in your own way and your own time. for some, that might mean some time in public service. and if you hear that calling, i hope you answer. each of you has unique gifts and you were given them for a reason. use them and share them. public service is one way -- an honorable way -- to mark your life with meaning. today i visit not only my alma mater, but the city of my birth. my life began just a few blocks from here, but i was raised in west texas. from there, yale always seemed a world away, maybe a part of my future. now it"s part of my past, and yale for me is a source of great pride. i hope that there will come a time for you to return to yale to say that, and feel as i do today. and i hope you won"t wait as long. congratulations and god bless.

We often hear people say, “Never give up.” These can be encouraging words and words of determination. A person who believes in them will keep trying to reach his goal no matter how many times he fails. Benjamin Franklin once said,”Great works are performed not by strength, but by perseverance.”From the remark,we can infer that,of all the advantageous characteristics, perseverance plays a crucial role in one’s success.

Remember that year, I bought a bike, but I can’t ride a bike! Mom seems to understand my thoughts, gently to me: “tomorrow I’ll show you to your square, teach you to ride a bicycle.” “Good!” I’m happy to reply.

The next morning, my mother and I went to the square. Mother let me push this bike, and look for the feeling, I have to not boring to walk cycles. Fifteen minutes passed, and my feet really acid! I want to back down. Well, learn the bike how so difficult, it is better not learn! At this time, my mother said to me “: well, quite good!” Listened to mother’s words, my heart is light suddenly full of confidence. Mother then began to lecture, “learning bicycle, the most important thing is to keep the car balance, otherwise the car like a no head of flies, left, right. Didn’t walk a few steps, I already fell off. My knees hurt, out of the red blood, looking at this bright red blood, I can’t help but shed a hot tears, his mouth still keeps saying: “I don’t learn, I don’t learn! After listening to his mother, to longly say to me: “do what matter as long as perseverance, perseverance, perseverance will be successful. Like what you do is always fall by the wayside, how can success?” Listen to the mother’s teachings I have the confidence again, two days before, I had learned to ride a bicycle, but most importantly, I learned to insist on.Now I see them as my motto, adhere to is victory let it remind me to do anything as long as perseverance, perseverance, perseverance will be successful.

Nothing can be more exciting than success to a man.But you must face many difficulties before you can succeed. No one can make it easily. And it’s harder for those who are in adverse conditions to succeed. However, everything has two sides.Just as someone said, in every adversity there lies the seed of an advantage and in every defeat there is a lesson showing you how to win the victory next time. The most important focus is to establish a brief, that is perseverance. The British ex-prime minister Winston Churchill had a motto of “Never, never, never, never give up .Nothing can substitute for hard work. Life is a process of struggle for success.

justlikeafamouspoetsaid"youthisalovelysong,wherenothingisimpossible,youthisameaningfulbook,you'llbeneverboredofit;youthisarapidriver,itkeepsonflowingdayandnight;youthisacupoftea,itshowsyoudifferentkindsoftastesinyourlife."

asyouthissoprecious,ofcourse,wemusttreasureit.don'tletthelimitedtimepassby,.

what'**ore,neverignorethepowerofknowledge.readmorebooksandtravelaround.foro***hing,itcanincreaseyourknowledge,foranother,it'llbroadenyourhorizon.

I enter tile university after years of hard study and preparation. But life in the university is not as satisfactory as what I had expected. I become lazy and don't want to study.I become silcent. I become puzzled. I don't know what I can do in the future. Then I become unhappy.

Four years in the university is only a short period when compared my whole lifetime. Now it has passed a half. In this year, many people ,such as my parents,my friends, ask me what I want to do and tell me to map out a plan for my life. I don't want to follow their suggestion, and I want to go my style. So I think carefully. I have been a young volunteer(志愿者) for five years. It's very happy and significant. Then I have a dream.I want to join the University Student Volunteers Go West Programe. I think I can be a teacher in the west.I want to try my best to help them and help me. I want to see the world cearly. Now I can't reach its demand and it's very diffcult, but I will work hard in the next two years. There is an old saying"where there is a will, there is a way.(有志者事竟成)"I think my dream can come ture. Now in the university I mature, and in the university I prepare for the real world.

At last,I want to say to everybody"Hlod fast to your dreams,no matter how big or small they are.The path to dreams may not be smooth and wide, even some sacrifices are needed. But hold on to the end,you can find there is no geater happiness than making your dream come ture."

They say that when you die your life flashes before your eyes。 Will you seeany-thing other than a small black box in the corner of your room? What have youchanged in th world? What will you leave behind?

Or maybe you are surrounded by people all the time。duanwenw。 You are thecenter of attention and everybody loves you。 You go out with your friends, partying and having fun, but what about in the morning? You wake up with asevere headache and an upset stomach。 What about your death? Do you think it wastime to go?

You could be the exact opposite。 You may want pany, but for whatever reasonnot have it。 Maybe you’re scared or shy。 You go home, lock yourself in yourroom, and sink into anger。

Are you an adventurer? Will your love of adventure lead to your end? Youcan never be quite sure when your heart and spirit will be broken。 All youradventures will one day be forgotten and it will all have been for nothing。

Or maybe you played it safe your entire life。 You outlived all thoseothers, but what for? You never did anything great; you never made anything ofyourself。 You’re alone in all your security, but that worth it? You just took upspace on th earth。

They say that when you die, your life flashes before your eyes。 What willyou see?

The plum tree sacrifices itself for the peach tree-Sacrifice oneself for another person

This idiom comes from a old folk song. the last two stanzas go like this:

One family has five brothers, all serving to a minister as attendants. Every five days, they go back home for a reunion, decorating their horses and garments with shining gold. They vie with each other for ostentation and extravagance, attracting crowds of onlookers along the road.

Now there is a peach tree by a well, and a plum tree next to it. When worms come to gnaw at the root of the peach tree, the plum tree invites them to gnaw at its own root. Finally, the plum dies, ossified.

Even trees know how to sacrifice for other trees, why can't brothers do the same?

As everyone knows, English is very important today. It has been used everywhere in the world. It has become the most common language on Internet and for international trade. If we can speak English well, we will have more chance to succeed. Because more and more people have taken notice of it, the number of the people who go to learn English has increased at a 你好gh speed. But for myself, I learn English not only because of its importance and its usefulness, but also because of my love for it. When I learn English, I can feel a different way of t你好nking w你好ch gives me more room to touch the world. When I read English novels, I can feel the pleasure the book w你好ch is different reading the translation. When I speak English, I can feel the confident my words. When I write English, I can see the beauty w你好ch is not the same as our Cnese...I love English, it gives me a colorful dream. I hope I can travel around the world one day. With my good English, I can make fris with many people different countries. I can see many places of GREat intrests. I dream that I can go to London, because it is the birth place of English.I also want to use my good English to introduce our GREat places to the English spoken people, I hope that they can love our country like us.I know, Rome was not built in a day. I believe that after continuous hard study, one day I can speak English very well.If you want to be loved, you should learn to love and be lovable. So I believe as I love English everyday , it will love me too.I am sure that I will realize my dream one day!Thank you!Ladies and Gentlemen, Good afternoon!I’m very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. Today my topic is “youth”. I hope you will like it, and found the importance in your youth so that more cherish it.First I want to ask you some questions:

一、Do you know what is youth?

二、How do you master your youth?Y

outhYouth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind; it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshne; it is the freshneof the deep springs of life .Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite, for adventure over the love of ease. T你好s often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.

Im worried about my country. There is polution everywhere. Its time to dosomething about it.

We need fresh air to breathe. We need pure water to drink. We need a cleanenvironment to be healthy.

People have to stop littering. We have to respect our surroundings. We mustbecome friends of the earth.

First, everyone must get involved.Everyone must lend a hand.Together we canclean up our neiborhoods.

Second,we can practice conservation. We can reduce waste and reuse things.Wecan recycle paper, bottles, and plastic.

So,please dont pollute.Dont be a litterbug.Dont be afraid to remindothers,too.

Lets protect natures beauty.Lets make our future bright.Lets start to cleanup now.

Yes,yes, and take your life to a totally unprecedented(空前的) level.

and the positions you aspire(励志)to reach.

屈从) to challenges of hardships.
